The question of violence is interesting because power exists in the system and any act to disrupt any of the power balance in the system is considered an act of violence by some and I would go so far as to say that I agree with that so then we get into the debate on where and when violence is justifiable and what types of violences are morally justifiable? If you have a system with violent oppression and any act of taking one’s ability to self actualize is violent then violence is justified because it is needed to disrupt that. The next question is if we can create a new order where there is no violence out of a violent revolution and I don’t know the answer to that what do you think?

We are also one of three nations without paid maternity leave, and the only developed (“first world”) country without maternity leave.
We are the only Western country without universal healthcare.
It costs more to have a child in the US than in any other country.
In many countries you don’t have to pay for college, and if students do pay, it’s nowhere near the amounts that the US students pay.
I could continue, but I think I’ve made my point.
178th in infant mortality. Isn’t that good? Why would you want to top *that* chart? Or am I misunderstanding what infant mortality?
Actually America is at 169 right now. That is on a list of 224. The infant mortality rate (IMR) is the number of deaths of infants under one year old per 1,000 live births. This rate is often used as an indicator of the level of health in a country. Now the United States is currently at a rate of 6.17 (DEATHS/1,000 LIVE BIRTHS) which is kinda scary when you think about the fact that is has not dropped in years. This is especially striking when countries like Japan have a rate of 2.13 and Norway is at 2.48. Makes you wonder where we are in health care right?
